TAs Needed at U. of Alberta

Several teaching assistants are needed for Accounting 311 at the University of Alberta’s School of Business.

The openings are for course manager and marking team leader, tutorial center hosts and markers.

Applications can be sent to Kristie Dewald at dewald@ualberta.ca.

The application deadline for course manager and marking team leader is April 21st at 4:00 p.m.

The deadline for tutorial center host is end of April but the earlier the better.

The department is asking for applications to be in by mid-summer but the sooner the better.

CGA Ontario Accounting Contest Winners

Congratulations to Zhaozhe Zhang and Kevin Thomas for winning the recent CGA Ontario One-Hour Accounting Contest.

Zhang, a University of Toronto student, won the tier 1: basic-and intermediate-level financial accounting competition.

Thomas, a Ryerson University student, won the tier 2:  intermediate-and advanced-level financial accounting competition.

The winners received cash prizes of up to $5,000 and scholarship money towards the CGA program of professional studies.

The Finance Society at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is looking for executives for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Available positions include: vp finance, vp external relations, vp internal relations, vp information systems, vp academics, vp social events, event coordinators and executive assistants.

Deloitte National Leadership Conference

Deloitte’s annual leadership conference is taking place from August 20th to August 23rd at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario.

Activities include workshops on negotiating, leadership and team building as well as an opportunity to network with Deloitte professionals.

The application deadline is April 19th.

Applications must include a cover letter, a resume and the most recent unofficial transcript.

This conference is free of charge and is open to first, second and third year undergraduate business students.

Leroy Wins VP Finance Vote at Concordia

Congratulations to André Leroy and his colleagues at UNITY for winning the Concordia Student Union election at Concordia University.

Leroy takes over as vice president of finance where he will oversee a budget of more $1 million during the 2008-2009 academic year.

Leroy is an accounting student at the John Molson School of Business where he is the John Molson Accounting Society’s (JMAS) vice president responsible for relations with the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec.
