Congratulations to Team 1 from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business for winning the RSM Real World Challenge in Calgary on March 15th.

The team took home a $5000 prize. $1000 went to each member and $1000 went to the Accounting Students’ Association (ASA).

Second place went to Team 3 from the University of Calgary.

Business Card Challenge at SFU

ASA is looking for a slogan that reflects its identity and the experience of being an accounting student at SFU.

Representatives from KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, and Ernst & Young will be in attendance.

 

Time: 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Location: Student Centre
Dress code is business formal

Learn to Succeed Conference at Concordia

Topics will include 10 secrets of effective negotiations, destined to succeed, science of persuasion and think big.

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Loews Vogue Hotel, 1425 Rue de la Montagne, Montreal
Cost is $15 per person on or before March 21st. $20 for late registrations.

AIC CEO/CIO to Speak at U. of T.

Wellum’s topic will be global imbalances and wealth transfer from west to east.

Five Days for the Homeless Campaign Raises Nearly $120,000

Congratulations to business students at ten universities for raising $119,603.27 as part of the  annual Five Days for the Homeless campaign.

From March 10th and March 14th, participants lived “homeless” on campus  by sleeping outside with only a pillow, a blanket and food donated to them.

The money will go to local charities.

CGA Ontario One-Hour Accounting Contest (Reminder)

contest_banner21.gifCGA Ontario is holding an online accounting contest on March 19th at 4:00 p.m.

You must register by March 18th.

Winners will receive cash prizes of up to $5,000 and scholarship money towards the CGA program of professional studies.

Last year’s tier one winner was Adele McGee, a student at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business.

JMAS Publishes Latest Dividends Magazine

You will find photos from past events and articles on the different designations, women in accounting and tax tips for students.

The club has also redesigned its website.

The team took home a $5000 prize. $1000 went to each member and $1000 went to the school’s accounting society.

Second place went to a team from the University of Western Ontario.

The Calgary version of the RSM Real World Challenge takes place on March 15th.
