Winning Resumé Tip

Posted by Wallie

resume.jpgYour great grades and your part-time work experience might make you a shoo-in for that accounting job you’ve been working towards, but they don’t guarantee you an interview unless your resumé gets noticed first.

We asked recruiters from the accounting world to tell us what makes a candidate stand out on paper, how to best present one’s accomplishments, and how to craft a resumé that will put you on the top of the pile.

Quantify Your Achievements
Impress the recruiter by quantifying the successes that you have achieved in former positions. For example, perhaps you have reduced a campus club’s annual budget by 15 percent, or provided onthe - job training to four volunteer committee members.

Quantifying your achievements provides the reader with specific evidence of your accomplishments prior to the interview stage. Try to have at least one measure of results for each position that you have listed on your resumé.
